How to be more domestic

I am jealous that my coworker Alli gets to live with her boyfriend and cook him food, and baked goods, and be cute, all the time.

Ugh, what's the point 3 years ago

Everytime I clean up one thing, my son messes up 3 other things.
I am going crazy with the vicious cycle which is cleaning. I feel like there is never a point when I can sit down and say “i’m done.” I’ll be glad when the toddler days are over. I would like to have more than one clean room at a time.

Sunday dinner 3 years ago

I hadn’t cooked Sunday dinner in a while, so I decided to last night. I made a pot roast with carrots and potatoes, collard greens, and cornbread. It was sooo good.

I had one moment of bliss 3 years ago

I guess after seeing what I have to go through with the kids, my husband decided to do clean up.
It all begin yesterday evening, as soon as my husband came home I went to the grocery store. I came back unloaded the groeceries, asked where the kids were, and he said in their room playing. Now when i’m home, they are fighting over me all the time. So I start to cook dinner, and my kids come in the kitchen, and start to call my name incessantly. My husband calls them out of the kitchen, and says “I don’t know why you do your mom like that, you don’t do me that way.” Can I have a daddy day please?
So after I cook dinner, feed the kids, bathe them, and get them in the bed. I start to clean their room, because my son likes to go behind me and void everything I do.
About 5 minutes into cleaning, my husband comes in their room, and says go sit down, watch some t.v. or something. To my surprise, he finishes their room and he put up the leftovers AND he cleaned the kitchen. Oh I almost forgot, when he came into the kids room, he gave me a good long hug.
I guess he realized how much I do, and how stressed and tired I get, so he decided to give me a break. It was a much needed break, and I was so delighted that he helped.

the joys of housework 3 years ago

Today my husband went to get a glass out of the cabinet, when I asked “why don’t you get a plastic cup?” He looked crazy like I asked him to cut himself, then said “for what, I thought the plastic was for company.” I was like says the person who does not wash dishes. Then I told him the point of having plastic cups was to keep from having to wash dishes. He was like whatever, I guess. I thought, this whole conversation was a waste of time because you will keep on grabbing glasses and making more for me to clean.

I am trying. 3 years ago

Why after I spent all night bleaching and cleaning the kitchen, does my husband make hamburgers. My stove top was spotless, then he come with his burgers, popping grease all over the samn stove. Dude I just cleaned that, I hope you plan on taking care of that. Everytime I clean you decide you want to fix something all messy. And I am left to clean up again and again.

I missed that gene 4 years ago

I am so not domesticated, even after having 2 children and being a stay at home mom for 2 years. Since my husband was gone to Iraq I really didn’t have to do to much. Now he is home, I have to cook more and clean more and have another person to tidy up after. My inner person is a corporate boss, not June Cleaver.
