Books on tape maybe? 8 months ago

I drive about 20 minutes to work every day. I listen to the news but want a happier/less depressing way to fill the drive. I should try to listen to Spanish books and then I could help my “improve my Spanish” goal too I guess.

lynner life is short...do another backbend!

I'm on a whirlwind 13 months ago
of reading!
  • In Defense of Food
  • Freakonomics
and
  • watched 2 Rick Steves videos on Spain (wouldn’t recommend these)
also just checked out:
  • Omnivore’s Dilemma
  • The Logic of Life
  • The Undercover Economist

my local branch 14 months ago

has quite a bit of local history, and is only a mile away on lovely side streets.
last week, I checked out mostly spanish related items: a language learning CD (Destinos, kind of a soap opera in 26 parts), a spain/portugal guidebook, spain charming inns and itineraries, and two travel non-fiction books, don quixote’s delusion and spanish lessons.

Much easier 17 months ago

Going to the library is so much easier now that I don’t work. I have the time, and a limited amount of funds to spend on buying books, so it all works out for the best!

Saving money 20 months ago

There are so many books I want to read, but what happens is that I end up wanting to read the one book not availible. It’s frustrating. That’s when I end up buying the book to read. If you think about it, books are rarely re-read, even though I compulsively have read and re-read everything I own, and so buying them is a waste of money.

Netflix has been less than stellar lately with our service, so I end up waiting for a week for the movie to come, and watch it within 2 hours. At least with the library, I can check out movies I’ve been meaning to see without paying for them.

This has become a regular, very valuable habit 21 months ago

I am a frequent visitor of the Plainfield library. Frequent for me is at least 1-2 times per month.

I have found so many great ways to learn and plan my life at the library. I will continue to use the library as an important way to expand the horizons and list of dreams in my life.

took me long enough 22 months ago

vancouver is blessed with so many branches of the library, with the big central library being beautiful and huge and wonderful. our own local branch even has vietnamese langauge materials, which means that one of the things i can do with my mom when they come back out here to help me while i’m undergoing radiation is to go to the library with her. we’ll see how that goes….

but today my daughter and i will go get our cards after we see the nutcracker ballet, which means that i hope that we can start two mother-daughter traditions (going to the ballet and the library).

Library :) 22 months ago

Not just to read, but to study as well.
I don’t have Microsoft Publisher so I’m going to go to the library next week to do it there. I also find it a very relaxing environment to get my work done – no screaming sisters or anything!

Of course! 2 years ago

I LOVE the Fletcher Free Library here in Burlington. In addition to books, CDs, movies, etc, you can check out garden tools in the summer, and snow shovels in the winter!!

Just got “Homebuying for Dummies,” now I just need to find time to read it!
