You know.. I’ve written her twice and have never sent the letters?
I just don’t know what to do about it.
I don’t think we’re as compatible as I once thought we were.
The more I hear from her, the more I’m like, “eh..”
I want someone that is basically a stranger. A picture… a face to put with a name.
And that’s it. I want to get to know each other because of the letters, not because of Facebook or Myspace or anything else of the sort.
Any takers?

I flew out to Seattle to visit my penpal. He lives in Philadelphia, but his parents live in Seattle. I use to live in Seattle until I decided to escape from the rat race and moved to a remote island in Lake Huron. We meet in Seattle in the Summer of 2001. The flight was lovely, though I really hate dealing with U.S. Customs (as a U.S. Citizen with a U.S. passport, I have a much easier time getting into Canada than returning to the U.S.).
My penpal and I spent a few days together. It rained every day. But really, that is typical of Seattle. I returned home to snow. We have snow on the ground from October to April, so a little rain was kinda nice. After I returned home, I wrote a letter to my penpal. He bought me a book of poetry by Leonard Cohen.
For Valentine’s day, I completed my long overdue set of book from Nick Bantock, The Griffin and Sabine Trilogy. I highly recommend these books if you are interested in snailmail or mailart.

After the Holidays, if airfare or train travel is reasonably priced, I intent to travel to visit my long-time penpal. It is kinda of cheating on the letter writing.

In middle school, we were paired up with kids in Holland to become penpals. I continued to write my penpal through high school but then I just become so busy that I never sit down to write a letter. I feel really badly about this and I want to get back in touch with her.
