Some friends of mine have been working with churches in Rwanda to help them develop workable solutions to the five biggest problems their country faces today:
p-promote reconciliation
e-educate the next generation, literacy
a-assist the poor
c-care for the sick
e-enable servant leaders
The folks doing the work call their teams P.E.A.C.E. teams, and I’m going on one in August, God willing.
To support me, just ask how or check out my blog :)
Can’t wait to come back and check this one off!

How to go to Rwanda
How I did it:
- First, I just let myself be fascinated with global outreach, and then I....
- read books on the Rwandan genocide in 1994 and other books like Crazy Love, by Frances Chen, after which, I....
- talked to everyone who had done it before to get my questions answered, and then how could I help but...
- signed up of a peace team with trip dates that worked with my schedule. Did my fundraising through a personal blog and items I made as donor gifts, and trusted God to make a path for me.
Lessons & tips: When God shows you a step you feel juiced to take, you have to take it in order for the next step to appear. I've learned that I can't just wait for a gazillion signs or perfect expectations to gel before I make a move out into the great things I hope to do in life.

So the dean of my program went last semester to try and fix some problems. Hopefully it’s a little better so I put this back on my list! I’m going tonight to talk to the study abroad people so I’m excited and a little nervous, in case it doesn’t work out :(
