Ken Chen Trying to keep my desk clutter at a minimum

    Well.. 21 months ago

It was a great experience but heavy, I got back home tired. Our nomina was one of the most voted, for some weird process had to make some deals with other groups so only 5 were choosen from ours, the elder ones. Well, it was overall a good experience, but not the sort of activism I was expecting, guess it would be more interesting as the major elections approaches.

Running for Delegate 22 months ago

Well, I signed up in the PRD a couple of years ago to help a friend that was running for the legislature, now got into a run for delegate, the dynamics of the group are quite interesting, there’s new people and very old people from the time of Torrijos. The meetings sometimes are quite odd but I’m learning a lot.

Another thing to do in 2008.

I just finished making my selections, I'll send my ballot out tomorrow 2 years ago

It was very boring reading through all those propositions… but I did it! Do I feel it will make a difference? I hope so.

I've registered to vote in California 2 years ago

I am now an absentee voter and they’ve already sent me stuff to vote on. Now I just need to investigate these issues!

    Not sure... 2 years ago

...what else I expect to do with this goal. I think I’m pretty aware of whats going on and trying to let my reps know my positions on things. I guess I can make this as accomplished.

Wrote my rep 2 years ago

about how I think Liquid coal is a HORRIBLE idea. I got an auto response back but I still feel good about doing it. Not sure what more I can do besides contact my reps but There is a woman at my barn who is involved in local issues esp in regards to equestrian rights and things going on in the Glendale Rancho. I keep meaning to show up when I hear about things she is doing but it always slips my mind.

I know its a form letter... 2 years ago

But I still enjoy getting it. And This letter is much better then the auto responder I got from my congressman the other day. If enough people write on a certain topic there is no way a senator can ignore it. They will get complaints from the staff that have to respond for them.

Anyway I wrote my senator and congressman after I read an article proving polar bears were drowning off the coast of Alaska. I’m still sick over it and although its not really a drop in the bucket of what I can do at least I am letting my representatives know what it is important to focus their attention on. Lets hope they can make an impact.

    Dear Ms. H.S.:

Thank you for contacting me to share your opposition to drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). I appreciate hearing from you and welcome the opportunity to respond.
precious ecological resources for drilling. Since our nation’s oil refineries are currently operating at maximum capacity, increasing our supply of crude oil by drilling in ANWR will not lower gas prices. Earlier this year, I, along with fourteen other Senators, sent a letter to Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN) stating our strong opposition to any move to authorize drilling in ANWR through the budget process.

I share your opposition to opening one of our nation's most

We do need to take steps to reduce our dependence on oil, such
as increasing fuel economy standards. I have recently introduced the “Ten-in-Ten Fuel Economy Act” (S. 3543) that would raise the average fuel economy standards for all vehicles from their current average of 25 miles per gallon (mpg) to 35 mpg by model year 2017. This legislation would save 2.5 million barrels of oil per day, which is what we currently import from the Persian Gulf daily, and prevent 420 million metric tons of carbon dioxide from being emitted by 2025. I believe that this is aggressive legislation that will provide a realistic solution to help the United States decrease our dependence on oil and decrease our greenhouse gas emissions.

Again, thank you for your letter and I hope you will continue to contact me on issues that are important to you. If you have any further questions regarding this issue, please feel free to call my Washington, D.C. staff at (202) 224-3841. Best regards.

    Sincerely yours,
    Dianne Feinstein
    United States Senator
