declutter for 15 minutes a day

i have too much stuff. hate it. makes me all stressed and anxious. i want to live so much more simply.

and making it a part of the cleaning schedule … it’s taking up much needed space!!! :)

spent 15 minutes going through some files in the office and shredded a bunch of stuff. that was easy. 15 minutes a day that is all I am going to focus on. No more. I will not get overwhelmed by this task. It will all come together in time.

get back at this….

about 2 hours today going through papers and throwing things out. still much much more to go, but telling myself i only have to do it for 15 minutes really helps. once i get started i usually do more, but i don’t feel guilty if all i do is 15 minutes.

what started as 15 minutes of decluttering last night led to about an hour and half of going through paper work and trying to get some tax stuff organised. I’m so proud of myself. I just gotta keep this 15 minute thing up and I think I will start to see some improvements in my house and life.

day 1 down yesterday.

We had a mini flood this week and so I went to town on the basement today. Ripped out these disgusting black cardboard-like walls and pulled out some gnarly rotted framing. Cleaned up all around and it looks MUCH better. Great improvement.

I know this is a bad strategy, but I just can’t deal with the mess.

I definitely spent more than 15 minutes moving crap out to the barn today. The barn looks bad, but I can close the door and not go in there for days at a time!! Once the house is in order then I’ll deal with the barn…

the plasterers are here to work on finishing the attic, so I had to move all the stuff I had stored up there OUT! So needless to say things are a MESS! BUT, I’m going through the stuff that I’ve brought down and I’m trying to pare down what we have, store some of it out in the barn and hopefully end up with a smaller amount of stuff to move back up there when its finished.
