I’d really like to put aside some money every week, and by doing this save enough money to:
-Go on holiday to Milan with my art class
-Buy myself a car when the time comes
-Continue saving after that, for the future.
To do this I want to put aside about 5/10 pounds of my earnings or EMA money a week, when I get my job.

I’ve been playing gigs, and so far have earned around 850 euro (1700 dollars) but with rent…i’m not left with much. My aim is to have over 1,000 euros spending money from gigs, as I am apparantley unemployable.
For some reason, I never feel like I can hold onto money for very long. I have two part-time jobs, which is kinda hard to hold down as a high school student: one in a bakery, and the other in a coffee shop. I get regular paychecks, and my parents have helped me along the way, opening two high-interest savings accounts as I grew older. When I get a check, I put half of the money in the bank and 10% goes to the offering at church, and then I keep the half or so that’s left.
You might thnk that I have no money left after this, but I usually have a decent amount. But I am TERRIBLE at keeping the money in my wallet!! It seems to disappear between buying books, coffee, music, and clothes, plus paying for trips and movies, etc. I most recently spent money on a new digital camera (soon to be delivered by the UPS guy), and a passport for a trip to Africa (WAYY expensive!!). And now, I am completely broke!!!!
I am a firm believer in the saying that what you spend your money on shows what you care about. And every day, as my money goes into the hands of various shopkeepers, mega-corporations, and the US government, I feel like little bits of me are going too…my spending habits suggest that my loyalties lie with Starbucks, Barnes and Noble, GAP, and Apple. And as each day passes, I am more and more aware of the fact that I am trading my spending power for meaningless possesions…and that scares me.
So my resolution: keep my money until I find worthwhile things to do with it…donating, using it to serve others with generosity, something new and helpful :)
Well, I now know that I need to save a bunch of money for the next year, and I have made steps to get cracking on that. After getting my taxes done on Saturday morning, I stopped into the bank and opened up another account. Since I don’t really have any savings right now, they had me open a second checking account. Since I use online banking, I am able to move money into this new checking account, but it’s difficult for me to withdraw it.
But I had the manager move $75 bucks over to the new account, leaving me a a few hundred till the 15th. The only expense I have coming up is I am to go out to dinner with some friends tonight, and the tab will be about $16 for me. So since that isn’t too much money, as long as I don’t go out and blow all my money getting drunk (which I don’t want to do anyway if the hangovers I experienced this weekend are any indication of what boozing it up like I once did will make me feel like).
So now each paycheck I will try to drop in about $100 into this new account, which should save me up enough for the following:
1) New apartment on June 30th
a) First months rent + deposit
b) Higher rent = less money to play with/blow
c) Closer to facilities I would need which would eliminate
certain costs from my budget.
2) Rot Shit European tour this year
3) Credit card debt = about 350 bucks

i finish paying this months set of bills, i will open up that savings account i keep saying im gonna open. I just need to make sure im up to date with everything first. I want to go to Vacation in July, and i need a good bit of money. Havent even started to save :( pouts
It’s so hard for me to save my money because there’s things I want to buy! No, its not things I need, they are all purely wants. I have everything I need, but its the extra stuff that always holds me back!
Lately I’ve been splurging on jewelry/plugs for my ears, and those get expensive!
I received a mushroom bank for my birthday this past year, and I told myself every other twenty dollar bill I have would go into the bank, but when I need a little extra money here and there, I’ll go get into this little bank and take out what I need! MUST STOP!! hah.
Starting now, I’m going to REALLY try not to take out that extra cash, because it builds up if I just leave it alone!
I make so much money and where does it go? God only knows. It’s no good to me if I just piss it away on cinema tickets and magazines and MORE clothes and other silly pointless stuff. I could have my own place by now!

have not opened up a savings account. I’m gonna wait for my tax return check, then i will open the account with that. Was gonna use it to pay bills off, but i will open the account first and then maybe use a third to bust down on what i owe. The rest needs to be saved, I want to finish up college
