...that many times, when I add a goal to my 43 Things list, that things are set in motion. Only a couple months ago I added this goal and estimated that it’d be happening in maybe four years… and now it seems the time frame may be slashed to only 2 to 3 years. We’re tempted to chuck it all and move when our lease is up, but we’re just really not prepared enough. We have to get to a better place financially, reduce our possessions, and my husband has to finish some schooling. Then, onward to northern New England!

california is just not the place for me. we’ve gallivanted about and although there are some parts of the state i like more than others, i am still drawn so deeply to be back east. after visiting the east coast with my husband, it became so much more obvious that we belong there. for now, we are pretty tied down to california because of my husband’s job. which is fine. he has an excellent job and we can spend the next few years paying things off and saving money to buy a house. he’ll also gain reputation and seniority working where he’s at now and the more years he puts here, the better for whats to come in the future. by the time we are ready to move, Naeem will be 4 or 5 most likely and we may even have another little one on the way. this would be a perfect time to move for the kids because they won’t be so tied down to california.
we have our heart set on maryland, particularly in or around the baltimore area. its far enough away from family so not to have them breathing down our necks all the time, but close enough to see them occassionally without hassling with plane fare and long plane rides. we’ll leave some family and friends behind, but we’ve got an amazing support system already established on the east coast which towers in comparison. we like the weather better, we like the people better, we like the architecture better, we like the towns better… we just work there. in the end, this makes the most sense and makes us the most happy.
