Lots of aches and pains with kickboxing. So far I injured my knee and broke my foot. I HATE taking pain pills and I know that acupuncture works. I used it before for TMJ and it was amazing.
How to get acupuncture
How I did it: I found a location in the Denver area that was offering it for free for a specific day. I called and RSVP and went with my girlfriend who had done it before.
Lessons & tips: If you've got a mild needle annoyance factor so I was a bit nervous when she started polishing me up before the needles. Some needles have a pinch but some you don't really feel at all! When there is an area that you need to focus on the needles will tell you, for me it was my kidney with help of chakra circulation.
I didn't realize how spot on acupuncture was until I had it done to me. Now I love it!

I had to miss the one 2 wks ago – bad driving conditions – I tried but had to turn around – I was so scared!
Tomorrow though – I’m going to ask about helping to build the immune system. I have a small cold building, and am willing to try most anything to get rid of it. speaking of which – I better get to bed!!!

the acupuncturist was great, had dozens of needles first on the front of my body, then on my back. Had them in my head, arms, torso, legs and feet. I was a pin cushion. barely felt most of them, and they were halfway in. That is deep. I was only really aware of a 2 or 3 at a time, not that they hurt, really, just aware. I had to remind myself to lay very still. It was great and hopefully I will be back in 2 weeks, if they can get me in.

Going for my first appointment tomorrow…can’t wait!
Abby . . . dislikes morning . . .
I have a fear of needles (and for those of you who know about my piercings and ink, you know it is a different thing so HUSH!) . . . but I was able to tolerate this without passing out. It was interesting . . . and it worked.
For some background, I was in a serious car accident one winter (not my fault – some dumb ass who was driving too fast for the road conditions slid left of center and totalled me with the Girl in the car – she was 5 – and I do have pics, so if you wanna see my car, ask). Anyhow, I had a concussion and whiplash, among other injuries (the seatbelt shaped bruise across my chest was particularly lovely but I was damned grateful for it because the cop told me had I not been belted, I would have gone through the windshield) and I had daily headaches for like six months. I was desperate and finally took my doc’s advice to try acupuncture. After like three treatments, the headaches were gone, for good. The acupuncture doc stuck thin little needles in between my fingers and into the skin between my thumb and finger, and if I remember correctly, also into the sides of my knees. It hurt just slightly . . . but damn, did it work. Weird, but interesting.
msextreme trying to be realistic
Does acupuncture only count for those who are physically sore or something, im interested in it also because i heard they can strengthen muscles.?
etherealessence is such a lucky girl!
I enjoyed it! While it didn’t really heal the problem, it did feel very good, and took my mind off of my back :D I went back in 2000, and the doctor was really nice, and gentle. The needles were not sore at all :D He also gave me a hot, ginger massage and I LOVED it! But I don’t know that acupuncture is necessarily effective, so I only went once, but it was a pleasant experience :D
I finally did it and it wasn’t all that … I’ll have to give it another try.
