knit a sweater for myself

Somehow forgot it was one of my 43 things. Bonus.

Cast off the last sleeve of my February Lady Sweater! It’s blocking right now, the lacey part looked kinda short and squat when I finished so I stretched it down to be longer. I’m very happy, I can’t wait to try it on again after it’s blocked.

Cast on for the February Lady Sweater (along with what, half of ravelry?)

This is actually the second sweater I’ve attempted for myself, the first is finished but I never wore it because, between the time I cast on and the time I bound off, I lost some weight. Tried shrinking it during the blocking forgetting that one of the stripes was done in silk… and now my pink striped sweater is a solid pink sweater. Oops.

All it needs now is a zipper

I’m glad I’ve started…now if people would quit having babies I might get some uninterrupted time to finish.

It’s knitted!!

it still needs to be blocked. Then I have to decide on pockets or not. And decide on fasteners or not.

But it’s done! And everyone loves it … including me!

OK, the first pattern was messed up and I’m too impatient to figure it out. Little POed I found out AFTER I knitted the back and 99.9% of one sleeve (six cables twisted within each other up the center of the sleeve PLUS the two twists to match the hem of the sweater). So that one’s been frogged. Still love it, though, so maybe one day …

On V-Day I started another sweater. It’s knitted hood down. The only seam to sew is the hood. Finished the back/sides very early yesterday morning. Have been waiting on another set of interchangeable needles to finish/do the sleeves. I ordered them a week ago today and got them this morning. Bought another set just like my first so that (hopefully) the size 8 needles are EXACTLY the same size.

Working in the round with two circs. Sounds like fun.

Got my yarn from Malabrigo and got my pattern.

Finished the back piece today and am about to start one of the sleeves.

The sweater’s right side is nearly finished! I found something interesting out about my knitting while working on this goal. I knit backward. That is to say, the stitches move from my right hand into my left hand, thus making whatever I make the mirror image of what it’s supposed to be. I now know why my cables never turned out quite right! For this simple sweater pattern, it didn’t matter. I was just working on the right side when the directions said i was working on the left. Not a big deal. After this, only the sleeves, seaming, and blocking left!

Already got the back and (almost) the left side of a nice cardigan with 3/4 sleeves finished! Hopefully, it will be done by the end of november!
