Must See list? 15 months ago

I don’t really have any use for this goal anymore. Of course there’s a list of movies I want to see, but it’s a Very Big list and there’s new additions to it all the time. I don’t think it’s that necessary to chain myself to that list so much.
But I will see the movies I will see, whenever the time is right. This probably isn’t making any sense but oh well. This is how my mind works right now.

Guillermo del Toro ‘Hobbit’ deal closes

Will direct the film and its sequel in New Zealand
“After protracted negotiations, Guillermo del Toro has closed his deal Wednesday to direct “The Hobbit” and its sequel for New Line and MGM.
The Mexican helmer will move to New Zealand for the next four years to work with “The Lord of the Rings” filmmaker Peter Jackson, who is exec producing, and his Wingnut and WETA production teams.
Del Toro will helm the two films back to back, telling the story of “The Hobbit,” and its sequel, which will deal with the 60-year period between “The Hobbit” and “The Fellowship of the Ring,” the first of the “Rings” trilogy.”
    n____n Yay!

I first heard the news about this a couple of months ago and have been eagerly waiting for more news!
The movies are apparently planned to be published in 2010 and 2011. Aaaah I can’t wait! Tolkien! Peter Jackson! Guillermo del Toro! ♥ ♥ ♥

The Demon Barber of Fleet Street 21 months ago

Oh ho hoo, I’ve been waiting for Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd to come to Finland so intensively and now, when it’s finally opening here next Friday, I’m going to be at Karvia. :P So I can’t see it straight away. Just have to do it asap.
Tim Burton ♥ Helena Bonham-Carter ♥ Johnny Depp ♥ Tim Burton again ♥ because he is just a freakin’ genious and I adore him and his work!

(I also really want to see The Spiderwick Chronicles since I’ve read all of those books and what I’ve seen so far the movie looks great.)

The List, part 2 23 months ago

I’ve made a little bit of progress with this one!
My mum, her friend and I went to see The Golden Compass last Friday when we were at Pori. I liked it, it looked really amazing and of course I was totally smitten since there were so many animals in the film. However, I’m not completely sure if I like this dæmon business – of course it would be fantastic to have an animal partner throughout your whole life, but. Because only animals are dæmons and animals themselves don’t have dæmons, it would suggest that humans are above animals. I do not like that thought. I don’t think humans are any better than animals, in fact I sometimes think that we are far far worse than animals. Oh but I won’t go ranting about this on and on right now, no~
Lyra rocked, she was so cool. And her dæmon Pan was so adorable, I loved him.
I was also amused by Serafina Pekkala, not that there was anything wrong with her, no no. I just thought it was weird to see a Finnish name on a Hollywood film. :) And they of course pronounced it to h*ll but I wasn’t surprised. :D

I’m also really close to seeing two more films on my list.
I decided to buy Totoro when I was in Pori (along with the complete second season of Lost because it was ridiculously cheap) and we’re probably going to watch it today with my friends.
I didn’t remember to add Marie Antoinette last time, but it should have been on the list. I have that one now, too, got it as a Christmas present from my mum (along with The Wizard of Oz <3).

Some more films I’d like to see:
    • The Queen
    • Science of Sleep
    • Kiki’s Delivery Service
    • Princess Mononoke
    • Tales from Earthsea (yeah, lots of anime now :D thought I should make myself familiar with the film type)

    and also some classics:

    • Gone with the wind
    • Ben Hur
    • Breakfast at Tiffany’s
    • the Godfather films
    • all Chaplin movies (I’ve seen some already but I’d like to see all of them; I’m apparently going through some Chaplin phase right now)

I’d also like to dwell into movies by Guillermo del Toro, I’ve really started to like his work. First Pan’s Labyrinth and yesterday we went to see El Orfanato (though it’s apparently just produced by him) which was really great.

That’s it for now, I’ll continue the list later. This actually might take me a very very long time, there are so many films I’d like to see!

The List, part 1 23 months ago

Ok, I’ve been meaning to write this forever but now I’m finally getting it done.

One time when I was waiting for my train I checked out the video rental store at the train station and wrote down all the titles I wanted to see. Here they are, in no particular order:
    • Island
    • X-Men 3
    • Holiday
    • Transamerica
    • Memoirs of a geisha
    • Pride & Prejudice
    • Casanova
    • The Number 23
    • Black Sheep
    • King Kong
    • Brokeback Mountain
    • Babel
    • Mrs Henderson Presents
    • The Pursuit of Happyness
    • The Black Dahlia
    • Lady in the water
    • Little Miss Sunshine
    • I ♥ Huckabees
    • Ring 2
    • Gothika
    • Shrek 3
    • Nanny McPhee
    • Tonari no Totoro
There are also some new movies in cinemas right now that I’d really like to see, for example
    • Stardust
    • The Golden Compass
    • Elisabeth: The Golden Age
    • Joulutarina

Not sure if all of these are a must for me to see, but meh. I’ll let it slide.
I’m going to continue this list later, I still need to add all the classics and such. (:

I’d love to be able to go a video rental store and rent all the movies I want to see. :D I’d also like to go to the cinema more often.
I’m going to start making my list soon! To be continued…

Super Size Me 4 years ago

I had heard about this movie and have been wanting to see it for awhile. We finally rented it and watched it last night. Definitely considering adding this to my list, or perhaps even this. Yes, that would be the better option. I would be quite happy to never eat fast food again.

The Wedding Date 4 years ago

This was not on my list. In fact I’d never even heard of it until today. I am at home with my feet up, quite literally, and have very little to do. Because of some problems with my feet swelling I have to lie down with my feet elevated which means I really can’t do much other than watch TV (I shouldn’t even be online right now, ssshh!). Anyway, long story short, my sweet mother went and picked out some movies for me. I was in the mood for something girly and fluffy and neither of my choices was available so she hired “The Wedding Date”. Like I said, girly and fluffy, but we all need that once in awhile right?
