have a conversation with a stranger

i get paid to talk to people on the phone…
so this shouldn’t probably count…
but a drunk guy called me last night at work and proceeded to tell me for well over 10 minutes about his job, his 15 chihuahuas, and how my name is magical.
oh and how i should probably take my dog to a shelter and let her sniff out a friend there and adopt another dog.
he was a nice guy and all…
but i don’t think we are soul mates just because we both have chihuahuas.
luckily, he accidently hung-up the phone.

we (a friend and i) did make conversation with 2 native american men at a bar friday night for about an hour.
that was actually a good time…
eventhough it was kind of uncomfortable at first.

have a conversation with a co-worker today that i had never met.
the convo only lasted a few brief moments…
but it was nice.

i wonder if heated arguments count as conversation?
probably not.
i’m failing pretty badly at this…

i failed at this today…

unless you count the hours i spend on the phone doing tech support at the company i work for.
but i don’t think that counts because i dont see them face to face… and i get paid for it.

it’s just been a bad day, i’ll try again tomorrow.

i want to make a goal for myself to make conversation with one complete stranger each day for a week.
if i can do this,
my next goal may be to make conversation with a stranger once a day for a month.
but we’ll see how this goes first.
i’ve already fullfilled this task for today.
i talked to a cashier at hobby lobby for 5 minutes while checking out.

i went on a spontaneous three-day skiing adventure and got back today. on the lifts, i talked to all sorts of strangers! there was this guy who has been all around the world on a 47’ sailboat, a guy with a boot he didn’t like, and a girl with a lisp who was hella good at skiing. i’m sure there were more, but that’s all i can remember for now. converse with strangers! bring humanity together!
