walk to work 20 months ago

I’m the only person I know who walks to work. It’s an extremely rare thing in Burbank/L.A. It’s worth it just knowing al the time I don’t waste commuting/ sitting in traffic.

New rule: biking as transportation 4 years ago

I live in a very small town, with everything I need regularly within easy walking or biking distance (the grocery store, video store, vet, dentist, hair stylist, library, McDonalds, post office, Chinese buffet, authentic Mexican cafe…).

I have panniers on my bike for carrying groceries or books home, and a bike trailer for the kids to ride in (or the dogs). So I have no excuse whatsoever for getting into my big ole minivan in order to go 1/2 a mile down the road to the IGA (grocery store), or 2 miles to the library!

Plus I want to lose weight and keep it off, and exercise more, but exercise just for the sake of exercise is BORING to me. Riding a bike, though—that is fun, whether it is for the purpose of running an errand, or just to get out and explore the back roads with no destination in mind.
