I work for a non-profit agency that just had its annual fundraiser, and event we call “Paint it Forward” that pairs up local children with local artists. They co-create a piece of art and it is sold in an auction. One of our artists canceled one night, so a co-worker and I ended up working with two great kids. The problem was that neither of us are artists! But we helped the kids and created a piece of our own that somehow got into the auction, and somebody bid a whole $14 on it! Wahoo!
How to sell an original piece of art
How I did it: I found a client, designed a piece, painted it, and mailed it off to California. Kinda sad to see it go so far away and I'll probably never see it again, but that's the life of an artist, right?

Lessons & tips: Just do it. Art is subjective, and eventually you will find the person whose taste coincides with yours.
