Be the big sister that my little sister wants me to be

Every quarter, I get a call from the Big Brothers & Big Sisters program to see how Tay and I are getting along. I usually feel a little badly because she and I don’t hang out that much, anymore (partly due to schedules, partly due to the changing nature of her interests and my ability to accommodate them).

When the program called me last, the interviewer took pity on me and read me some answers Tay gave her about me. When asked to describe me, Tay said that I was funny and trustworthy. The interviewer said that funny is pretty common, but that she thought it was big deal for a teenager to come up with the word trustworthy on their own.

My Little Sister finally had an answer for me when I asked her what she wanted to do the next time we hung out. My challenge is to find a way to fulfill that answer. She wants to go innertubing in the snowy mountains. I’m all for that, if I can find us a ride to and from the facility. The one time I drove her up there in my own car, we did a 360 spin in the middle of I-90. Thankfully, there were no other cars to run into. We did land in the ditch, though. Lil’ Sis thought it was fun and immediately asked to go play in the snow. I let her do that while I scraped my heart out of my throat. We haven’t been back, since.

I have a little brother and sister, and i want to look out and protect them both, i love them very much and wish them all the best in life, but i want to be a part of their life, and drive them places, watch cool movies with them.
