I got into woodworking with 2 specific goals in mind.
1. to build my wife a wedding present
2. to build me a bar in the basement
Over time, after I built a blanket chest for the wedding present, I realized built-in bookshelves (and entertainment center) had more practical value than a bar, so I designed & built this instead.
I frantically worked on it for 9 months while my wife was pregnant, in a race to beat the baby. Nights in weekends, many times with the ballgame on the radio. I did it!
It’s all cherry (cherry plywood cabinets with solid cherry face pieces, moldings, etc) and a rich red mohogany stain coated with glossy polyurethane.
This is absolutely worth doing, and something that will add personal and material value to your abode. Thing is, I may never want to move!
