Top of the list today! WTF! Maybe I should just cave, and accept how superficial our society has become.
Let me explain:
Now if one really does need to shed some pounds to improve their health that is one thing, and I am all for the betterment of physical health. BUT what is unsettling to me is that I have never seen the top ten list without “lose weight” on it. I just feel that not everyone with this goal really does need to shed pounds, that the popularity of this goal is rather a product of the media and hollywood–their love affair with unhealthy bodies. My fear is that the popularity of this goal represents more the power and influence hollywood has over the individual consumer, especially young women, than a real dedication to health. The unhealthy bodies we see gracing the cover of fashion magazines, the bodies that are “ideal,” can all too easily take the dieter into the dangerous world of eds. So I’d be happy to see, just once, the top ten goals for the day without this particular goal taking up space.
