Went this weekend to the quarter and the west bank. Things are starting to approximate normalcy. At least as best as they can.

I would love to help, and I donated what I could when it happened, but I have to get my life together before I can help put anything together!! :P
Unfortunately I don’t see myself going to the States anytime soon let alone flying to New Orleans to help put it back together. I would love to though. But I just don’t see it happening. :(
We went down for Mardi Gras. Spent lots of money on alcohol and food.
Gotta get the economy going some way, right?
well my grammas house flooded again after Rita so we have no idea when we’ll be able to go down there. in other news I hear about businesses and schools which are planning to open up soon but I do wonder what they are thinking with the still present dangers of mold and toxic sludge (i mean kids… touch everything)
plus they said they think there are still bodies in some of the houses and buildings they haven’t gotten to search yet…
i bought a respirator at lowes yesterday for when we finally make it back to my gramma’s house. she needs protection from breathing mold. we’re going to try to salvage her coin collection and a few other things that are washable – silver, that kind of thing. otherwise her house is a total loss.
Now this is an awesome idea. I have purchased a shirt for myself and one for the inlaws. (they are from NO) I can’t wait to get started purchasing the beer… ;)
I was reading in the paper or somewhere that BR is the largest city in Louisiana, and will be for the next 5-10 years.
It’s mind boggling how much work is in front of us.
Last night on PBS they were playing the Battle of Evermore:
“The pain of war cannot exceed the woe of aftermath”
