I only want to do this to save money and make practical items that fit me and my family. My husband is 6’7” so it’s hard to find clothes that fit and look nice on his frame. Plus, I try not to dress my girls in street walker attire, and that means I have to make it myself. I just learned how to use my sewing machine last month, but it’s nice to get started with this!

I have always loved all things fashion. Actually, I’m pretty obsessed with fashion. I love beautiful things but hate ridiculous prices. So, I decided to create a area of inspiration in my apartment to get my mojo going. I’ve already designed several things, purchased fabric, a dress form, etc. I am now looking for a sewing machine. It is my gola to have 3 dresses done by the summer for myself, 5 dresses for my daughter and some curtains for my room asap!

I can’t wait to find the time to work with it… I’ve got a design in my head, all that remains is to work it out on paper and make it! I’m super-excited!
I’ve been into clothes designing ever since I can remember.. I remember when I was 9 years old and I kept all my clothes designs in the back of my sheet folder in school. I used to draw the clothes in school… then, I moved to Portugal when I was 10, and I was designing clothes all the time, I have folders and folders of them. I then got into music and that’s what I want to do, definitely. But clothes designing is still something I love to do, so I’d love to design my own clothes.
I have a unique style in clothing. I know what type of clothes I like, so it’ll be great to be able to wear clothes that I designed, and that are exactly what I want.

but I definitely spent about an hour tonight helping my roommate modify a top… I was hemming and cutting and stitching and ribboning all over the place… it looks really cute, too, for an initiation t-shirt for our dorm…. wish I had time to make my own look good, but Kristen’s going to be absolutely adorable tomorrow and couldn’t do it without me, so I’m happy.

Well, while I’m getting to know myself, I can be working on dressing myself accordingly as well.

I think the very very first step I would have to do is calling up a local store and seeing if they can find the foot to my sewing machine. It’s rather old and my mom lost it before she gave me the machine, so now I have the machine, but can’t do a thing with it, which stinks because I’ve been sewing (mostly with my grandma) since I was about 7 years old, so I can do this if I get everything together.
