I did three days on the Master Cleanse and today, I went off of it. On the Master Cleanse you are supposed to have 3-5 bm’s a day, and I had 0 over the three days. Yesterday I grew a hump on my back and today I woke up with such a bad ear ache in my right ear that I didn’t want to get out of bed.
Around noon I looked at my husband (who is working in town this week, so I actually get to see him during vacation!) and asked him “how disappointed would you be if I broke my cleanse?”
He pretty much indicated that he would like to see me finish this, but the pain was so intense I could not imagine another day without a bm and waking up with another detox symptom as intense as the hump on my back or the earache. So I made some fresh squeezed orange juice, and oh-my-god it was the BEST orange juice I have ever had!!
(BTW, I started at level 5 raw today – so I’m not diving back to my bad habits)
I waited an hour, my stomach was fine – no nausea – so I moved on to a whole orange. Feeling better, earache went away. A storm was moving in and I was not prepared food wise to go raw because I hadn’t done that shopping yet. We don’t have a full health food store in this town (too small). We have one but it is open day hours and pretty much carries teas and spices, and you can special order local free range meats etc. Our health food shopping is usually done 90 minutes north of us at the co-op. So I decided to go to our local Hannafords (chain grocer) and get a few things. I ended up spending $90 and coming home with 3 very full bags of organic and raw foods. I was surprised that I spent what I normally do on a trip there and came home with more.
We are trying to get the kids involved so that we can reverse the damage of these few years of junk food we have been putting into their systems too. The kids have been reluctant but willing to try. When I came home with the groceries, they ran in and started helping me unpack the bags and got excited about the things they were seeing “I love grapes!” “Oh look, strawberries.” “Hey, these are like poptops.” (I bought some transitional borderline raw foods to help ease them in, after all, we are starting at level 5)
