throw a block party

I organized a block party in Aug. 2006 and invited everyone in the immediate neighborhood. Not everyone came (not even some of those who said they were definitely coming) but enough to have a fun time. We closed off the street, my community band played, we made ice cream and grilled various things…and everyone enjoyed themselves. No one could remember having a block party in our neighborhood before, though some had wanted to. We hope to do it again and maybe make it an annual event. If we organize future parties, I will enlist more of my neighbors so that it can become more doable—both logistically and financially.

mainly when i move out…i think itd be a good way to meet people
