I’ve done this. It takes some effort, but things are relatively easy if you are techno-savvy. The benefits:
1. You have full control over your site
2. You dont’ have to pay hosting fees
Disadvantages:
1. You need a spare computer that should be kept “on” 24 hours a day
2. Your electricity bill might increase by few dollars a month.
3. If you pay for internet by byte-usage, your internet bill may increase as well.
4. It can be a considerable challenge if you’re not techno-savvy.
