joie de vivregood day, sunshine

chilly in the AM, and really not that warm on the return, but with DST, bright daylight for both riding in and home. 3 years ago

joie de vivreI was tired but I rode anyway

Pleasant but chilly, slow ride in. I was so tired for the way home I thought I’d just load my bike on the bus. But it was so warm, sunny and breezy – knowing that it meant mostly a tailwind for the way home – I decided to ride.

I didn’t break any speed records, even with the tailwind, but it was so very sunny and warm. At the storage facility, the temperature sign wavered between 69 and 70. I parked the bike and shed not just my jacket but my long tights.

As I rode through the park, it already started to cloud over. Coming out of the park, it felt colder. By the time I got home, it was increasingly overcast. The wind had finished blowing in the colder damper front.

Tomorrow, it is supposed to rain. I’m glad I could ride when I could. 3 years ago

joie de vivretook a little air

The new way home has a 14% grade with speed bumps. 3 years ago

joie de vivreGreat ride in, great ride home

Just loving not riding on 228th. I found a new way to get home that’s faster and more direct than the way I’ve been riding in, that still means I don’t have to be on 228th.

All the trees are in bloom, and I get the lovely scent of blossoms on the way home. 3 years ago

joie de vivreGorgeous Spring-Like Weather

It was cold in the morning, but a bluebird sky. David and I did a pootle out to Duvall-ish, and then back via Union Hill.

We took a break at the Vincent Community Grange Hall, and lazed on their wood steps and porch. I was cuddled up with him, and he was trying to grope me. I then slipped my mojo bar wrapper just under the waistband of his shorts, while he was distracted. He realized his groping wasn’t getting anywhere, and commented, “that’s the only chance of me getting any mojo in my shorts today”. 3 years ago

joie de vivreMissing Link - Connected!

I’ve only worked here, what, 15 months? And I finally found a way to get from the office to the Lake Road, without my tires ever going on 228th. It’s squirrelly, but not impossibly so. Amazing. 3 years ago

joie de vivreValentine's Day

Rode in to town with my husband on the tandem. After our romantic getaway, rode home via the long way, around the top of the lake.

Winter legs still. 3 years ago

joie de vivreIt's still winter

Hovered right around freezing, a clingy-cold fog for the ride in. Ride home in the dark, in a light cold rain 3 years ago

joie de vivreWheel of the year turns

Tomorrow marks the halfway point between solstice and equinox. Already there’s more light in the sky late in the day. A new month starts, but since this year I’m not keeping mileage goals, nothing to record, nothing to mark off.

Still – misty and damp for the ride to work. Cold, wet, and dark for the ride home. My breath was steaming and my glassed fogged as I came up multi-deity hill. 3 years ago

joie de vivrecar tomorrow

First day of not riding my bike now in weeks! 3 years ago

joie de vivreriding riding riding

still no car, so no other option – lots of cold, clear nights home. 3 years ago

joie de vivreWinter legs

It’s one mile from the lake to the roundabout, an average grade of just over 11%. It’s three miles from the lake to the office, a total elevation gain of 465’.

I’d like it to take less than 10 minutes to get to the roundabout. I’d also like it to take less than 30 minutes to get to office, which is what it took today. 30 minutes to go three miles is pretty pathetic. 3 years ago

joie de vivreNo choice now

Rose crashed the car; I have to ride my bike. 3 years ago

joie de vivreFirst day back

A few days after my crash December 28, I came down with a cold. So I haven’t been on the bike for more than a week.

Took it out today, mostly because I felt like if I didn’t get back on the steel steed again soon, riding would feel even more distant and impossible. 3 years ago
