How to do a 5k by adelea

"I signed up for a 5k at the last minute in the heat of the excitement and ended up loving it."

How I did it: My sister was trying out for some sports team and she needed to practice her running, so she and my dad signed up for this 5k. I decided, why not try this. So I signed up like 5 minutes before the race started to join in. I was keeping up with everyone pretty well and was performing much better than I thought I would. At the end of the race, I was so exhausted and felt like I was going to throw up. But once that went away, I had this runners high and it was amazing. I felt like I could have run forever.

Lessons & tips: Just run as far as you can, then go a little further. Increase your distance or speed just a little each time you go running. Don't start off too fast, keep a steady pace. Drink water. Keep with your plan.

Resources: not much, i just do things unexpected.

    well i did this when i was 10. it was my first race and the farthest i had run before that was like half a block. but surprisingly i got through it without even stopping and i got 1st place in my age group. wow and i hadnt even run before
