wasn’t a very good loser tonight and I don’t like myself for it. What’s wrong with saying “Well played Bob. I really enjoyed our games tonight”, rather than “Okay it’s time to go home now.” God I can be a real jerk. More stuff to learn.

the last 10 months I have been working in an admin role in the public utilities sector. The woman who is the manager of the section where I work has, since the start of the new year, returned to her role after a secondment. Everything I’d heard about this woman and her control of her staff by use of micromanagement techniques is now impinging on my working day, and it is a most unpleasant experience. So three weeks after getting a contract with the company itself (as opposed to an agency contract) I have decided to take the first agency job I can get in order to escape her; goodbye generous holiday allowance, sick pay, good pension (in the long run), friendly colleagues.
