I traveled once for 4 days to Jordan by Bus and I traveled for 5 days to Cyprus – Ayia Napa. That was all I could have afforded in 25 years of my life so far. I hope I will be able to afford more trips, because the beauty of life is to discover all it’s richness of cultures, landscapes, wonders and mysteries.

How I did it: I've always wanted to travel around the world. We saved money for several years. Then the fun of planning began. All these places to visit, and how to start? We mapped out a rough itinerary and got round-the-world tickets and... set off! We went to Spain, England, Morocco, Germany, Turkey, Japan, and New Zealand. It was an amazing trip--I met so many wonderful people, saw so many sights, ate a lot of great food (and some reall… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I bought a plane ticket to Nepal and then bought air or train tickets to my next destination as I decided where I wanted to go. Pick some places you want to visit (e.g., the Great Wall of China, Prague) to give you a sense of direction and some goals, but leave lots of free time to go to unplanned places. Other travelers will make recommendations and you want some flexibility to visit them. Read how I did it…

How I did it: I was working for a large multi-national corporation so they paid the fare. It ended up only costing under $6K business class as it was an around the world fare. It took two weeks as I needed to stay for days in each place, China, SF, Orlando and Paris. The rest were stop overs. I would have loved to stay longer along the way. Read how I did it…

Arabian nights like Arabian days – More often than not are hotter than HOT – in a lot of good ways…
I’m going to Dubai and maybe Abu Dhabi for a week in late September! I can’t wait to explore that part of the world for the first time. I hope to go on a desert safari, ride in a hot air balloon at sunrise, see all the fancy sights in Dubai like the Burj al Arab, get some amazing beach time, go to the water park and maybe swim with dolphins, and just whatever else I can! SO EXCITED! :-D
I want to do this. I’ve ALWAYS wanted to do this.
But, the thing is that I don’t want to save up money and stay in hotels and visit according to certain factors.
Has anyone ever heard of the term “Squatting?”
It’s sort of like being a nomad.
That’s what I want to do.
But first I’ve got to grow up and get a little money. And get someone to take with me, I can’t go alone. It’s too dangerous to travel by myself, especially when I’m not traveling by normal means.
Anyways.
I know that someday I will be able to travel, I don’t doubt myself. It WILL happen. ^^

I am an average person. An ordinary employee and a bread winner. I really love to travel and been to some local destinations already but still have to go through a lot. Is till have to visit all the local tourist destinations but can’t push through with my wished because I have to spend for the priorities.. I really don’t know if I can still do what I have been wishing. :(
A Perspective on World Travel.
Something I had wanted to do for a longtime is to not just travel the world (we’re still doing that), but to travel around the world- one shot; one long, lap around Earth. Why? For the best reasons I can think of: because I wanted to and because I could. This year, I finally got the chance, and took the family as well. God blessed us too- no appreciable rain occurred during our trip that could have hampered what we wanted to do.
The idea of an around the world trip initially seemed like a far off unattainable goal; this kind of stuff was only for the rich and the retired, but I wanted to go before Linda and I had health issues that would have prevented us from doing so. Better to go now than say at age 80, “if I only went when I was in good health; if I only . . .” Faced with that possibility, my thoughts were that we needed to go as soon as possible. So I saved up and timed the trip to coincide with my pay and work schedules, and now we’ve done it. Having done all my own travel arrangements in the past as we traveled internationally, I was initially frustrated by the high cost of air fare and almost gave up on the idea, however the Internet provided a series of sites that offered Around the World travel (RTW as they call it), and at a reasonable price. Still, it’s not a cheap thing- $2,300 a ticket, but far cheaper in terms of time by avoiding to have to calculate all the possible one way fares and then purchase them one at a time, which would have been even more expensive by far.
The choice of where to go was also important; staying with friends, finding hotels in the off season to cut costs, things to do when there; things we want to do again; and, of course family inputs on activities, all drove the choice of destinations.
Planning aside for the moment and looking back on this trip, I am struck by how small the world really is. Of course that’s a matter of perspective, but when you deal with just 12 hours from Cape Town to London and 14 from Washington DC to Tokyo, you cannot help but be impressed by how technology makes the world seem smaller and more globally knit together.
The world is wired. Nearly everyone uses the internet and wireless services to communicate and shop. Cell phones abound; even on Safari had 3 bars on my mobile phone. America is also pervasive- American influences are everywhere from fast food to beer to music and the news- you simply cannot escape the USA.
Even more interesting for me personally were the varieties of changes in climates we experienced; from a hot and humid American summer, to a hotter and more humid tropical perpetual summer in Singapore, to a hotter and totally dry summer in Doha, Qatar, to a mild winter and short days in Cape Town, to a mild summer and long days in London- all within three weeks.
Also from a personal perspective, it was important for me to expose the family to as much of the world as I could. This exposure to a wider variety of cultures provides a much needed perspective on your own life as well as your own personal situation- that is, are you are better or worse off than others, and, in what way(s). This may remind you of how good you have it (and to thank God for it), and on the other hand, how other people live, and perhaps give you a desire to help somehow or prevent what occurs in one country from happening in your own. Which ever the case may be, and regardless of your views, the world still becomes more personal and less detached or abstract. Perhaps that’s the biggest lesson and gift of all.
