i’ve purchased my tickets, now i just need to wait… and wait.. and wait….
How to see the body worlds exhibit
How I did it: as soon as i found out about it i logged onto the website of the place that was hosting the exhibit (Ontario Science Centre) and i ordered my tickets well ahead of time. 3 weeks is an agonizing amount of time to wait

MisfitDreamer is a leaf in the wind
The Body Worlds exhibit came to the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia a few years ago and I missed my chance. Since then I’ve been anxiously anticipating an opportunity to see it.
one of the best experiences i’ve ever had
just because everything seemed so surreal
it made me think about who those people really were
i want to go again !

When I first read about BodyWorlds a few years ago in Mary Roach’s book Stiff, I was amazed. Part anatomical exhibition, part aesthetic exersise, where human bodies had their fluids replaced with plastics and polymers (a process called “plastination”) and prepared to best display the intricacy and beauty of the human body. It was something I never thought I would see come to my city (Edmonton often being overlooked in the shadow of Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto). But the exhibit did come, and I knew I had to go and go early.
The exhibit was astounding. The specimens were breathtaking; sometimes beautiful, sometimes chilling.. Hundreds of tiny nerves radiating off a skeleton; a skinless basketball player, his muscles stretched and flexed; a mother and child. It was unreal and yet not. It’s hard to describe, but I’m so glad I went. I may even go again.

I actually enjoyed this one more than the first exhibit that I saw a few years ago. It’s all pretty amazing, although I feel like I’m good for a few years on this one, unless something comes along that requires me to brush up on my anatomy awareness!
It’s in Los Angeles through September, and it’s definitely worth seeing if you haven’t been!
I saw the body worlds exibit over the summer and was sort of creepy but i enjoyed it!

My mother had been begging to go to this, and as her medically-educated son, it fell to my sister and I to take her. No one else was much interested in going.
I’ve seen plenty of dead bodies (occupational, not those I murdered, so calm down). I’ve seen my share of plastinated cadavers and body parts. I would have been fine if it were pitched as more of a learning experience, but there was an element of voyeurism I didn’t much like.
This one was a close call — I’m not angry about the money and time spent — but for me, it really wasn’t worth it. Even Mom was disappointed.
I did have fun playing docent. It was horribly crowded, another part I didn’t like. I made a couple of offhand remarks about brain anatomy, and suddenly I was confronted with a whole slew of questions. I enjoyed a moment in the limelight. I think the attendees would have liked more guidance and less glitz.
wierd…worth doing..it’s hard to believe that they are even real bodies! (but there is hair attached to the scalp on some of them…so ya..you are frequently reminded that they are real!). It took us about two hours to go through the exhibit..very lengthy and worth the money! :)
I have bought tickets today! It is currently at Science World, and I have heard so many good things! :) (I’m very excited!)
