All of a sudden, I can do these. Sometimes I have to wiggle my handlebars like a lunatic, which I’m sure is great for everyone watching, but I am staying on the bike and the bike is staying still and I am king of the whole wide world.

Decided to take some time to practice skids and trackstands. Wore my clipless shoes. Made a trackstand for all of 4 or 5 seconds before I accidentally clipped back in. Went down like a sack of spuds.
Much to the amusement of a park full of tourists.
Wow, that was easy. I spent an hour figuring out how it worked and then another 30 minutes practicing and voila. It’s not perfect yet, but it works. Here’s a short blog of who I did it:
Now I just need to work on reducing the motion required so it’s more of a perfect stop. I know it’s possible. It’s just a matter of balance. Maybe in a couple of weeks.
It’s not too hard really. After I got my fixed gear set up, it took me just a few days to get it down. Now it’s just practice to rock it solid. Skids on the other hand…
