How to list 5 things I am thankful for everyday
How I did it: Keep a journal of any kind: just list down anything, it doesnt have to be big: I like to start with things that I have done, or people that I love. (Sharing wine on the beach with friends, fudgecicle ice cream, google searches, my nephews greeting me when I come home, and surfing)
Whatever you think of. dont feel the need to justify why it made you happy, just write what you think. keep the list somewhere private if you wish.
Lessons & tips: write even when you don't feel it: you will often find that after listing a few happy things that you are gonna feel better.
Resources: the book "simple abundance" by sarah ban breathnach, a blank journal, my mom, and a comfy/inspiring place to sit and write.

Today I’m grateful for lots including:
- Good news in the post this morning. I’d had some blood tests and they came back fine.
- The cosiness of putting on woolly socks on a cold morning
- A walk in the Wicklow Mountains. Just beautiful and it made me feel lucky to be alive.
- A lovely message from a fellow Kiva member
- Being on friendly terms with my ex. I’m glad we’re still friends.

Lots to be thankful for today including:
- Getmygrooveback who is simply wonderful. I now think of her as a Glamazon because of her courageous yet ladylike and glamorous spirit
- A lovely phone call with my sister. I love her to bits but sometimes I feel bad after talking to her as she doesn’t understand my depression and gives me “helpful” advice. But today it was the opposite and she really cheered me up. She’s a bit of a love really!
- A nice cup of tea. What can I say? I’m Irish, we love our tea!
- Being able to give 2 new Kiva loans. One was to a single mother – this was inspired by Art4all who reminded me what worthy recipients these superwomen are.
- Catching up on phone calls that I’d put on the long finger ages ago. I seem to have whipped my procrastination into shape a bit this week. Not fully, but I’m definitely getting there.

Today I’m grateful for:
- Getting a bit of college work done. I didn’t do a lot but a bit is better than nothing
- Getting more decluttering done. I was quite ruthless and chucked lots of old notes and diaries (not journals – just reminder types) into the recycle bin. It feels good to purge!
- Clearing my desk and getting lots of stuff filed away in its proper place.
- The lovely attitude of the guy who’s here decorating. He’s a friend of a friend’s husband and he’s so helpful and obliging.
- Being cared for. Sometimes I feel irritated at certain loved ones giving unasked for advice but they wouldn’t bother do it if they didn’t care about me.

I’m feeling quite good (although I’m tired) and I’ve lots to be grateful for including:
- Clearing out my inboxes and streamlining my email a bit. I’ve still more to do but it’s a great feeling to have done this much. I’ve been reading www.zenhabits.net and it’s made me feel more enthusiastic about all the organising I’ve got to do.
- Getting a supervisor for my project who I think will be easy to work with. In fact I’m thankful I have one at all – I thought I was going to be left in limbo for a while.
- My lovely glass of fizz at Brooster’s party :-) Brooster always seems to put a smile on my face!
- A lovely email from my friend with gorgeous pics of the family.
- The library. I love it. It’s free, it’s green and the staff are lovely! And I’ve got 2 new books waiting to be read.

I’m feeling a bit better and the gratitude is starting to feel a bit more “natural” now – hooray! I’m grateful for lots including:
- Freecycle – yay for freecycle! It’s going to be a big help to me decluttering. I hate the idea of stuff just going into landfill. A positive aspect of the economic downturn is that people seem to value ‘stuff’ more and don’t have such a throwaway attitude. I’ve been able to donate 2 lots of stuff already that I doubt anyone would have wanted a couple of years ago.
- Having a bit more energy and feeling able to tackle what needs doing. Well start tackling it at least!
- Not getting upset/stressed that college has made a cock up over my project and I’m left in limbo – again! I’m sure it’ll get sorted soon and it’ll give me a chance to practice my assertiveness and equanimity.
- Beautiful autumn days. It’s warm here, and sunny. But it’s a gentle, hazy sun and the air is soft with a breeze scented with wood smoke. The trees are still mostly green but everything is starting to turn red and gold – just gorgeous!
- Not being afraid of the spiders in my house. I know this year there are more than usual because of the favourable conditions and my heart goes out to anyone with a phobia! I’m finding them everywhere – even in my printer! But these ones are harmless and quite cute and we leave each other alone.

Today I’m grateful for:
- Waking up bright and early
- My lovely postman who did me a favour by redelivering a big parcel of wool that I’d missed the other day. The sorting office is far away and not on any bus routes so awkward to get to for a non-driver like me. It was really nice of him and he assured me there’d be no problems with that kind of thing in the future.
- My latest knitting project – as soon as the wool arrived I got stuck in and I’m really enjoying it.
- Being able to think of things I’m grateful for even though I’m not doing the best.
- Having so many opportunities. I know I’m really lucky and I really hope I can make the most of them. Things are overwhelming but it’s a luxury to have these particular things to feel overwhelmed by.

Today I’m grateful for:
- A cheap, filling, yummy dinner
- The arrival of some stuff I’d ordered online. I’d almost given up and was starting to be afraid that the website was bogus.
- My good friend understanding why I needed to postpone our dinner. She’s really good at not putting pressure on me. We’ll get together next week instead and I’ll enjoy it more then.
- Getting a few bits done – anything is better than nothing and it builds momentum.
- 43T for helping me stay focussed.

A tiring but productive day – I guess I’ll sleep well tonight :-) I’m grateful for:
- Catching up on stuff I’d put off for ages; Dr. appointments, eye test, returning clothes and lots more
- Finding the perfect diary in the first shop I looked in. It wasn’t dear and I hope it’ll help me get organised.
- Finding some nice cheap winter woollies. It’s getting cold here so I’ll be glad of them.
- Getting on well with my ex. It still hurts but not nearly as much as it used to.
- Getting stuff sorted for going back to college. I’m not looking forward to it but getting organised is making me feel more positive about it.
