I have done it!! I hovered around 50 pages for months after my last effort (detailed in my last entry) but today I spent a few more hours and was really ruthless. I deleted some folders, added some new ones, read a lot of stuff that I could then get rid of and finally, my account has NOTHING in the inbox.
Fantastic.

(474) Left to go
When I assigned myself this goal, my inbox had 2000+ messages in it, over 1200 of which hadn’t even been read. 94 pages of emails from back as far as 2004.
There are now less than 50 pages, and around 300 unread messages. It’s not finished obviously, and there are numerous untouched folders that I previously tried to organise my messages into but it’s progress. I’ve spent a couple of hours on it today.. it’s incredibly tedious, but perhaps it will be done by Christmas.

Until a couple of weeks ago I had more than 300 e-mails in my inbox. At the moment I have at about 270. Most e-mails have information for my website and I keep them until I have put the information on my website. That takes most of the time.
Extreme, I know, but it was an accident, and hey, it achieved the goal!
The key, I’ve found, is folders. Keep email folders. So instead of keeping that old email you might need in your inbox you can throw it into an appropriate folder. Its just as fast as deleting it, but you know its still around, and categorized so its easier to find.
Of course, now I have folders full of old stuff, but at least its stuff I probably want.
Also I delete any newsletters or whatever that I haven’t read in a few days.

One small step for me, one happy pat on the back… And the world keeps turning, doesn’t miss a nano beat.
