I looked into one local culinary school. There program seemed to be pretty good and it was relatively inexpensive and fast but them I did a bit of internet research and found the blogs of several highly reputable chefs warning against going to culinary school unnecessarily. They mention that it’s very possible to do become a chef without culinary school (although I’m not sure if they were also including pastry chefs in this category or just chef-chefs) Anyway, I’m deciding to give up this goal at least for now. I’ll focus on first getting through college.

here’s my plan. once i am 18, i will go to bartending school. assuming i’m in a state with appropriate bartending age restrictions, i will bartend my way through college. then i will continue to bartend my way through pastry school.
if i realize my goal of having a bakery/cafe, amazing. if it doesn’t work out, i will still have a bachelors degree in something as a back up.
