How I did it: slowly but surely.
i lived with a cat when i was growing up, so that helped a little, maybe. usually i would chase her around the house until she jumped up somewhere too high for me to reach. then i would lose interest and give up. so we managed to get along using this arrangement where she mostly avoided me. i guess i can't really say i was successful in making a friend there...
but then i went to stay at my owner's parents' house for weeks one time when my owners had an emergency. (i love visiting there! my owner's parents are like human grandparents for me who spoil me and everything!) they have two cats, both boys. the first time i tried to play with one of them, he seemed all cool about it, but then bopped me on the head!!! cats are like that sometimes, i have learned. after i figured out that he didn't really want to rough house and was more of a mellow guy himself, i calmed down and tried to take a nap with him. success!! now both of them will hang out around me and sometimes even cuddle!
