How I did it: -Became more engaged and present in meetings.  Tried to ask a question or offer an opinion in each meeting I attend for work.
-Picked role models and began to incorporate their communication styles
-Realized that if no one knows what you're thinking, they may think you don't care
-Decided not to care if what I was saying came out wrong, or if I was about to ask something stupid.  What I found out is that when I didn't understand something and said it out load, 90% of the time there were then others that came forward and agreed with me. Read how I did it… 4 years ago
