at last, after 18 years in berlin, i finally made it to poland. only a few hundred metres over the border (we walked along the beach from heringsdorf to Świnoujście) and only for a couple of hours, but it counts! took some pictures of the locals (cleverly pretended to be photographing alb) and spent some złoty at the beach bar under a perfect blue sky. i think we also won a free packet of crisps, but am not sure of my translation and it’s a bit difficult to go and pick them up now anyway. the only disappointment was that i didn’t get to show my ID—the border was just two painted posts in the sand…

we’ll be only a few chilometri away from la Polonia at the weekend; surely we can sneak over the border for an hour or two? and if i’m very lucky, someone might ask to see my ID card. oh, happy thoughts.

why am i using italian words in an entry about la Polonia? no idea.

mysticmage321 wondering if he will ever do any of these.

I have always wanted to go to a different country, especially in Europe. I have a lot of heritage from poland so I guess that is one of the places I would like to go to most.

My church is taking a trip to Poland this summer, and I think it would be an amazing trip. Hopefully I get to go!

My dad’s family is from Poland. My grandparents came over before my dad was ever born, but I have always wanted to see the place from which my family comes.

I’ve visited Poland almost every year that I’ve lived. I go with my mum and younger sister to visit my gram in Bialystok. Bialystok is an amazing city! It never gets too hot! But usually gets too cold in the winter! In Bialystok the shopping is good everything is cheap because 1 dollar is worth 3 zloty. And there’s a remaining palace there. It’s lovely. It’s a park around the palace, but inside it’s a medical school. I’m planning on going there in a few years to study abroad. I’ve also been to Gdansk. It’s amazing. The beaches are lovely. The ice cream is great (I have to say this because I can’t stop thinking about it)! I also went to Sopot to see the Molo. I gotta tell you it gets pretty hot on that Molo. I also went to Saint Mary’s Basilica in Gdansk too! I was lucky enough to see it before it went up in flames last year. But on a lighter note, Warsaw is a great city too! I’ve been to Krakow too! It’s a beautiful city. But, I haven’t got the heart to visit Auschwitz. But, Gdansk and Bialystok are the best to visit in my opinon!

It was the hell of a road trip. We went for 24 hours and made it just in time for …the funeral. I love you Liz for taking me with you! Polish HipHop is pretty cool. Polish people are up all night and party, everywhere and anytime.
