learn akido

i attempted to start a year or so agao. i don’t know how you guys started out, but i was suprised to find out that i was just thrown into the mix. I mean, there was’t a “beginner” class at all. I got thrown around like crazy the first night. Hurt my clavicle from hitting the ground so much. But i did buy a book and i’m sure that there are other places out there that can teach you taking things step by step. I haven’t found one yet. Let me know if you guys get any where. I”m gonna look up some more places here in Maryland.

Aikido really is a “way” which means you never really reach an end but continously achieve it by consistent practice. What attracts me to it is not so much the techniques but the philosophy of inner peach, harmony and non-violence. just google aikido to get some idea of whats out there, then if it interests you read some of the books by Ueshiba. of course to really get a feel, find a dojo near you and take a class!

does it make me an otaku if I really want to learn swordsmanship after reading a samurai manga…. like really really????

okay, so questioning of motives aside. Akido does look cool, and you wear hakama and gi and all that. and I’ve always wanted to do a martial art – which this kinda is isnt it?

I started this not knowing what it was and thought, “hey that sounds cool” Now I’m reading about what it is off the internet WOW is progress or what people!! WOOT! I really want to practice this. This sounds very enlightening.
