We camped for a night in the upper Yosemite area and it was so beautiful. I’ve been there so many times on day trips but just the once over night. It was worth the trouble it took to get a site. Plus- You have a great lake nearby to go swimming in, a great view of the backside of Half Dome and some fantastic hikes that most of the tourist don’t bother with because they don’t want to leave the more famous part of the park down in the valley.
(Word of warning: If you want a nice camping experience DO NOT camp in the valley. The sites there are so close you can reach out and touch the tent of the people who are camping next to your site. Plus-the camp sites there are hard packed dirt with almost no trees and right next to the main road. Take the high road and camp on the upper area of Yosemite.)
