Today I had Jag out in the glorious sunshine and he “helped” me plant Little Lavvy the Lavender Plant in the garden. I finally decided on a spot near the back steps. It gets a fair amount of sunshine, but not too much in summer, and is well drained. Plus I’ll get to see, and hopefully smell, the lavender everytime I go up and down the stairs to the laundry.

The apartment I lived in growing up was exposed to so much such that anything and everything grew so well. In this apartment, I don’t get much sun so I’m doomed to growing low light plants such as philodendrons and peace lillies (both of which I love). I was given a lovely, healthy lavender plant last year and within a month it had died. And I’m usually very good with plants.
Well, I bought a small lavender plant about a month ago at a farmer’s market and it’s doing wonderfully outside my garden apartment. It’s thriving. I just love going out in the morning and running my fingers across the leaves and releasing the lovely fragrance. My worry is as soon as the weather turns cold and it comes inside, it won’t survive.

Little Lavvy
Little Lavvy the Lavender plant is happy and watered and sitting on my sink waiting for me to decide where to plant her. I’m not sure if it’s a good idea to plant her at the moment though because it’s the middle of winter here?
I’m thinking that the best place for her will be in the front yard against the front fence. There’s garden space there with only two plants in it. She’ll have plenty of room to spread and grow.
Will see how we go tomorrow, Jag and I might get out there in the sunshine for a while and he can watch me clear and dig the ground over in preparation for Lavvy’s planting :)

I bought a pack of 100 seeds for the lavender border. My wife chose the pink lavender, so that’s what I’m going to plant. I’ve started the seeds in the tray pack about 1 week ago. Hope they sprout soon!

this spring I want to plant a lavender border on one side of the driveway. That side butts up to a wooded area and tends to look messy. hopefully this will pretty it up some. plus it will connect to the perennial border at the top of the driveway and make that appear neater as well.
