Brandy RobbinsRunning to win the race...
...so for the last two mornings I’ve been driving past 4th graders at PE and the coach is having them race two by two in the parent drop off lane- the distance is short but the races are furiously fast. The kids are all amped up as they’re on the start line and they’re watching Coach steadfastly- when its time they dart off the line and fast forward towards the finish. When they’re running they’re probably hoping their legs can go faster, go faster and when they finally finished and their hearts feel like they’re going to bust and the exhilaration of the race sets in, legs shaking, they’re smiling…no winners or losers really, just racing…going fast for pleasure. I want to do this again.
I used to race as a kid and win medals. I was a fast little thing. I loved winning. I loved running hard and breathing hard, chest heaving afterwards, I loved it. I should do it again. Soon. 3 years ago
