CrunchyBreadSources of O-3's

One tablespoon of flaxseeds daily (freshly ground) provides a healthy dose of Omega-3 fatty acids. These can be mixed into oatmeal, stirred into gravies, made into smoothies, or even sprinkled on salads. They have a mild and pleasantly nutty taste.

I’ve also heard a lot of good things about chia seeds (yep, the same sort of seeds you grow Chia Pets from!) but have not yet tried them. I’ve heard they taste like watercress, only better. The gel from the seeds attracts nine times their weight in water, so they are very hydrating, and fool your body into feeling fuller. Chia seeds are an even more concentrated source of O-3’s than flaxseeds, but for me flaxseeds are more readily available in my supermarket.

Other good sources for some people might include fish oil tablets, or just eating a lot of fish (like salmon), but I hate fish. Even the tablets used to give me fish-flavored burps, so that didn’t work for me. :P

I’m happy with my ground flaxseeds for now. It is becoming a morning ritual that I look forward to eagerly every day. :) 3 years ago
