get new contacts

Ok, I just made an appointment for tomorrow! :)

on 2/23 I should have at least ordered some contacts. I don’t ever want to go this long without them because I am so tired of wearing my glasses. Time for a change.

I need to make sure I time it well, then make the appointment… need some money to come in first!

I picked my new boxes of contacts up earlier today!

The doctor gave me a new prescription earlier today that was much sharper. I’m going to go another week with it and see if I have any problems before we commit to it… She also dilated my eyes for the exam, so now I’m sitting at home with big, big pupils. It was so bright I could barely walk around outside, and even with sunglasses on I was shielding my eyes as if I were the only one there walking in a desert when everyone else was enjoying a mild fall day.

I went to my appointment the other day and the doctor gave me a pair of “loaners”, but I really can’t see out of them. It took me about three hours before I realised that my eyes weren’t just tired, but that the prescription was totally off. I couldn’t see people’s faces at a distance, and more to the point, I couldn’t see the names and numbers on people’s uniforms at roller derby, even though I was in the 4th row. Bad news. I went back on Sunday, but there was no one from the doctor’s office there, so I just got an employee who pretty much shrugged and passed the buck.

I’m still wearing my old prescription because I can’t go into work if I can’t see well. That’s just ridiculous. The employee supposedly left a message for my doctor, but if she doesn’t call, I’m not calling them. I have pretty bad astigmatism, and I suspect that my loaners are just the plain-jane versions that don’t correct for that blurriness. I have a follow-up appointment on Saturday, and if she doesn’t fix it then, I’m looking for another doctor.

I head there after Spanish class on Saturday!

I’ve finally picked up the contacts! I still have to send in the rebate, but I’ve got the contacts and that’s good enough to mark this off as done.

UPS claims to have tried to deliver the package last night at 9:46 PM. Whether they mean EDT or PDT doesn’t matter, DH was home ALL DAY waiting for them, and we certainly were home at 6:46 and 9:46. Now I have to pick up the package at their customer “service” center on a weekday. They are not open on weekends.

I am really pissed off at this. I wish I had asked them to deliver the contacts to the optometrist. At least they’re open on weekends. But this was supposed to be easier for me.
