How to sell my bike by scjohnson

"Now I have some money to help pay for my new bike! And I will definitely be using Craigslist more often."

How I did it: I posted my bike on craigslist (what an amazing invention), detailing the brand of the bike, size, speed, gender, age, and quality.  Within one day I had 7 different e-mails from interested buyers!  I sold it to the first person willing to make arrangements and had the cash in my hand within 24 hours of posting it!

Lessons & tips:

  • Make sure your ad is specific, include as much information you can supply
  • Don't be too greedy.  I probably could have gotten more than $40 based on what other people were pricing their bikes at, but that's probably the reason why mine sold so fast.

    It took me forever to actually get around to doing this, but once I did, it was shockingly easy. Posting the ad took less than 15 minutes, and the bike was sold within 24 hours. I am so happy to have it gone, and to have the money in my pocket!

    Worth it or not 2 years ago

    Sheesh. I just had to choose if it was worth selling my bike from the dropdown. That felt really wrong! I am saying it was worth it because now I can buy my house but it still feels wrong that I had to sell it. Anyway, this is over and done with.

    Kinda sad, but then it is also a relief to get done what I wanted to do. Thought this was going to take a lot longer. Now it is just the paperwork that needs to be done… I really hate paperwork :(

    This could be the day that my bike gets sold. I will miss it a lot but since I cannot seem to make the time to really drive it on a track the way it should be driven, well, I feel guilty spending all that money on something I dont feel I use as much as I should.

    The person who want to buy the bike seems like a decent sort of guy. Cannot say I wont miss it, but now that I have decided I want this to be over.
