One Bookshelf 3 months ago

After moving my office things into my own office at home, I took one of the bookshelves. I have one whole bookshelf full of books. I have only not read one-half of a shelf. That should only take me about a year or more. Esp if I go around getting books from the library. Meh. Anyhow, I also have about 2/3 of a shelf int he kitchen for cookbooks. That shelf, especially, I desire to expand. I love cookbooks. I adore reading them and looking at their pictures. Sometimes, I even use the recipes. Sometimes I just use them to garner information for my own recipes. But still, I am on my way. Although the bottom bookshelf in my office is used textbooks from college and grad school, but I still use them as reference material, so I will not discount them. Along that vein, I should add my bookshelf in my work office that also contains my old textbooks.

Progress... 2 years ago

I have the entire Harry Potter series now!

A while back I went to an amazing old bookstore in Evanston called Bookman’s Alley. I bought a U.S. 1st edition of W.B. Yeats’s version of Oedipus Rex by Sophocles. I also bought a copy of The Satyricon by Petronius. I translated a chapter called “The Millionaire’s Dinner Party” during 3rd year. Fellini also made a film version of The Satyricon, which my Latin teacher told us that none of us were allowed to watch until college. I’d never seen a printed copy and I nearly shrieked with delight. Bookman’s Alley was a giant old library house. I want a room like that in my house some day.

I have begun 3 years ago

to gather books for my library. I bought oodles of books in St. Andrews, and have the entire Lemony Snicket collection, as well as a few ‘Classics’ here and there.

Now I just need more bookshelves.
