My goal is to exercise for at least 200 minutes a week. I get into the habit but then something happens like being sick and then I stop. it takes me two or three to get back into the habit again. What can I do to stop this cycle ?

How I did it: I started off by running on the treadmill each day. Then I started with push - ups, then sit ups. After 4 weeks I was running on the treadmill, doing sit - ups, push - ups, juming jacks, and birpies! Now I plan to do this every week to stay in shape. ( A birpie is when you jump like a stick, then land crouched down, then go into push - up position then back up) Read how I did it…
How I did it: I let myself be convinced by my roommates to run a half-marathon. After I paid money and told people I was doing it, then I HAD to train if I was going to make it through the race. It took a month or two of training before I actually enjoyed running, but now, even after the race, I run because I enjoy it. The race itself was like death, but I'm glad I did it! Read how I did it…

I’ve started a daily exercise regimen and so far so good. I’ve just started but I’m really making myself stick to it and stay consistent. I’ve been doing my exercise dvd’s at home and going to the gym twice a week. I never really feel like going but since I can’t get out of the contract I’m making myself go now. My goal is to get some kind of exercise in each day. My body is sore but in the long run it will be a piece of cake (no pun intended, lol) and well worth the effort.

I joined a gym and have been working out, eating better and really trying to change my life style so that being in shape will be easier for me. I found I love mixing it up at the gym, I box, weight train, use the machines, treadmill, and take Zumba classes. I am now working on clean eating. I have a book about it and am compiling recipes into a report cover so I can use that to make my grocery lists. I have to make this as easy as possible for myself or it will not happen! I know how I am!!!!!
Until I get back in shape I can not do and explore the places I have always wanted to go! Until I get back in shape I will not be the person I want to be. Until I get back in shape….
Sign up for a membership at the local gym. Get their at least twice a week! If I pay for the membership in advance, I will guilt myself into going.

I’m too young to just let myself slip away. I have a good body, but I’ not looking after it. all I’m managing is 80min of cycling in the week. That’s not enough. I’m watching what I eat, but I love a gass of wine in the evening and a good night out with every course.
And I want to feel strong and toned and not have to worry about how I look in my clothes.
This is it! I’m going to do it.
OMG I am tired of being the fat girl in the room. I used to turn heads, now my goal is to break necks
Not that I am really over weight or incredibly unhealthy, but I deffinatley am not in the shape I was a year ago! I am a pre-med student majoring in Nursing, so health is very important to me—as I understand what happens when we don’t take care of our bodies. This semester has been very stressful for me, I moved, broke up with my g/f, no time/sleep, so I have put on quite a few pounds and just feel so much more lathargic than I ever have before. I also think I am doing worse in school because of it, there are concrete links between physical health and mental health, and I am definately feeling it!
So what I’m going to do! First I’m going to figure out a diet plan, get my BMR/BMI, set some calorie intake limitations, then I really need to figure out an exercise plan/routine and start on that… so my these are first assignments I guess are to figure out my plans. So I will report back with these and keep a track of my progress here on the forum. Oh and I really should quit drinking Soda!
If there are any other college students, or just people with no time that have some advice at how to stay healthy through all the stress i’d appreciate hearing them as I have a hard time finding the time to exercise/eat right… seems it is much much easier to just eat unhealthy when you have time limitations.
It’s been a while. But I joined a gym – which I hated it – but now it is a routine and after 5 months I got into shape. I should thank my girlfriend who motivated me a lot.
I’ll have to be honest that I’ve always been a tiny person (and am still). But when college came around, I gained 15 pounds in…3 months? Imagine my shock when I came home in December and stepped on the scale :). Anyway, college has come and gone, and I’ll be starting my first job soon. People at my company joke about gaining 15 pounds. When I heard this, the first thing I thought was: my body cannot take another fifteen pounds, parts of me (the tummy) is still recovering from freshman year! So even though I’ll probably be working 12 hours/day, I’m determined to exercise at least 4 hours a week. Let’s keep the 15 at bay. For everyone who is working to lose weight/stay in shape for whatever reason, best of luck!
