It is so hard for me to do this every day mainly because when I come home from work I cook dinner for myself and don’t have a lot of time. That is a priority because I think eating good food it way more important but I also want the practice on my art. I am thinking about making small sketches on my lunch break.
How to draw daily
How I did it: I made a small grid of a calender with the 12 months and all the days and I color in the days that I work on art. It gives me a sense of accomplishment to have the little squares filled in. To be fair, I give myself 5 days off per month, for goofing off.
I also got my schedule changed at work so I got out earlier every day. This helped give me more time in the evenings.
Lessons & tips: Just do it. It took me many years to realize that it was really that important to me that I would want to rearrange my entire life to accomplish this goal.

I stopped drawing daily, I realized that it felt more like a chore than a treat. I like to draw but don’t want to feel forced.
I’ve done this now but it isn’t a must do.
I’ve been doing this for a while now! yippee!
(i’m also getting much better at it.. JOY!)
but I’ve just decided it’s not something I need to be trying to do daily. and I’m making room so I can discover some new goals to put on my list soon.
I need new paper now. I pulled out my old sketch book but htere was hardly any paper left in it. So I used what was left up on drawing pictures of my goldfish. which turned out pretty good considering I don’t even remember the last time I actually really drew something. But I’m thinking I need a different approach to this. I’m crazy about that style of drawing from the 60’s and 70’s where the ladies are so willowly and and elongated and flowing and flowery. Not sure if anyone even knows what I’m talking about. But I think I’d like to try drawing pictures like that instead of realistic stuff. So when I get some new paper that’s what I’ll try.
yup, I bought this book on pen technique. so i’ve been reading that. I’ve also draw quick sketches of stuff whenever i’m at school or work. Not as often as I should but i’m doing it more frequently. that’s good.
I did it damn it. FINA-FREAKIN-LY!!! I drew a self portrait. It was only a quick 30 min sketch but at least I did it. I actually finished it. Damn I feel good. If only I could cheer myself. Mozeltof!!! Jeany. Stay tuned for the next drawing.
Damn it, i’ve been trying to do at least one figure drawing since i’ve started blogging but still nothing. I think it’s a motivational problem, which probably belongs under the learn self motivation thing. I just need to sit down and do it. Damn! I just realized it’s a procrastination thing too. OK PUT THE KEYBOARD DOWN AND DRAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve been doing better with this goal since I’ve started up my blog. I’m trying to post twice a week, although three times would be better.
