Probably not till 2014—in 2013 I want to make sure to take all my vacation in December, and I don’t want to drive anywhere too far in December. Well, maybe if I take a southern route. 4 months ago

I left on new year’s day, 2012, to drive from Boston to Los Angeles, where I would be spending my final semester of college (and, unknown to me, the next year most likely). Along the way we stayed with friends, or got a hotel room (a a discount b/c one of our co-travelers’s stepmom works at a hotel chain). We took two cars and stopped in the following: Pittsburg, Roanoke, Knoxville, Nashville, Memphis, Jackson, NOLA, Austin, Roswell, Tucson, and San Diego. It was amazing and I’d love to do it again! 12 months ago

Moving from the east coast to the west included a beautiful trek across the northern route (80) of the US. I had the good fortune of sunshine and pleasant weather the entire route except for a couple hours through Denver dealing with snow and the morning rush hour. There were storms ahead of me by a day, and behind me by a day, but the driving conditions were nearly perfect.

And the views of the country as I approached mountain ranges were splendid. Breath-taking even. Several times as the road crested I simply wept at the beauty that unfolded along the way.

I’m currently planning to drive from West Virginia to Arizona and tons of places in between. This will hopefully take place on August 29th until whenever I decide to come back home! 21 months ago
