I finished my classes last night. Some people even say that I give good massages. Graduation is on Monday.
How I did it: I looked up massage schools online, and found one that seemed a good match for me. I called the school and made an appointment to talk with the director. I signed up and put down my deposit. I went to school and applied myself to learning what I needed to complete the course of study. Read how I did it…

Last night we did an exfoliation with sugar/salt scrubs. While the treatments felt nice, they also made an incredible mess. I doubt that I’d want to perform or receive these scrubs again without a shower nearby.

One of the career services staff recently left. I always enjoyed speaking with her. Then during this past week the clinic manager left. I need to put more focus on completing the program than the chaos in the school administration.
There are about 6 weeks left until my class graduates. I’m starting to feel some pressure trying to prepare for national certification. One classmate landed her dream job of working on a cruise ship.

I finished my course tests for this quarter. Technically my clinical internship on Saturday is still part of the 4th quarter. Just 10 more weeks, 10 clinic shifts, and 40 more classes until this thing is done.
I am changing my current Naturopathy degree to a Shiatsu and remedial massage degree!

I got my first feedback form that rated the massage as disappointing. The client left some comments so there are some specifics that I can work on. I’m also going to follow up with the clinic manager to examine how I can improve my skills.
One complaint was on the level of pressure. I thought I had checked in with the client frequently enough about the level of pressure during the massage. I just wish that I would have known about pressure complaint during the massage. I can’t change anything about that session now.

I finished another clinic shift this weekend. My right wrist has been feeling sore since Sunday. I think that I may have agitated my previous wrist injury. I didn’t feel that I gave my best work and we’re still waiting for the feedback forms.
And we’re loosing another instructor from our campus. I hope that all the people who are leaving are going to better places.

Today I completed my third clinic shift. It was the final shift I needed to complete to finish up the third quarter. If I stay with this program, I’ll have 19 more weeks of classes (80 classes total) and another 18 clinic shifts.

I’ve been thinking about withdrawing from school for a few weeks. I had concerns about my tuition cost obligations. These costs are based on how much of the program has been completed. I wasn’t sure if time was measured by calendar days or by clock hours. Today I was informed that it is based on clock hours. Had I known this information last week (when I had asked about cutoff dates) I would have withdrawn at that time and only been obligated for 50% of the total tuition costs.
I wasn’t happy with my school before based on curriculum content. Now I’m less happy with the school and I don’t have anything polite to say about the administration.
How do I kill these negative thoughts?

I’m really struggling with some challenges at school right now. I have concerns about the quality of the curriculum. I had a meeting with someone from the school about these concerns. I left that meeting feeling unimportant and dis-empowered. My concerns about the curriculum persist and I no longer believe that the school is willing or dedicated to improving or correcting the curriculum.
I’ve been looking at transferring to other programs in the area. One has been willing to transfer some credit for completed classes. I’ll still be obligated to pay 75% of the tuition for my original program. Changing schools will cost around $3600$3800 more and take me four to seven months longer. Just looking at the dollar cost and opportunity cost it seems expensive. But it also seems like a cheap price to pay to remove myself from that environment and still allow me to learn massage therapy.
