I love making people feel good — 2 days ago
I know how much I enjoy just a quick back rub. Giving people messages would be a great thing to give to people.

I did five 50-minute massages yesterday. Overall things went well. I didn’t make it to the school as early as I had wanted but I had plenty of time to setup my booth.
I was not sure how my body would stand up to doing multiple massages. My wrist feels a bit sore but I didn’t feel any sharp pain. I know that I can keep improving my body mechanics. I caught myself cheating during some of my massages. I was flexing my arm at the shoulder instead of driving with my hips. My back is a little sore today since my posture/stance was not as good as it should have been.
My first client even left me a tip. Our school has a no tipping policy so I turned the money in. I think that the quality of my work started to drop off during the 5th massage. I’m not sure how I could have improved my work at this time. I need to reflect on that session. We’ll get our feedback forms on Monday.
I hurt my wrist about a month ago in the gym. It does not seem to want to heal. I’ve seen a chiropractor and my primary care physician. The x-rays weren’t conclusive but I don’t think I have a fracture. One prognosis is that it may take time to heal. It’s already been over 4 weeks :(
Tomorrow I start my clinic shifts. If my wrist starts giving me pain I hope that I’ll be able to rest it.
When I first started the massage therapy program I was curious about how many people would complete the program from my class. There are about a half dozen fewer people in my class now then there was before the current quarter started. What is most surprising is not the students missing from the class but the changes with the faculty. There have been four instructors and two staff members that have left or are leaving soon. All these people leaving has be questioning if I’m staying on a sinking ship.
The lab session last night was more enjoyable than the previous few. We got to look at organ systems within the body. I was having difficulty spacial locating organ positions within the body. An hour or so in the cadaver lab helped clear up a lot of confusion.
There was one thing about the lab session that was unsettling. One of the organs displayed was a human eye. I felt uncomfortable holding the eye and didn’t examine it closely.
2nd quarter has been completed. We’re starting student clinic at the end of this term.
My school offers an award for perfect attendance. Today I blew it. I had injured my back in the gym and would not sit down for the 3 1/2 hour class. There’s one girl left in my class who can get this award and I sure hope she makes it.
Lifeontheroad just got dreads!!!!
I am doing my Certificate VI in massage next year as part of my Bachelor degree.
I’m having the toughest time keeping my sheets clean. Sometimes I notice lotion stains on my sheets after I pull them from the dryer. The lotion is supposed to be non-staining but the lotion doesn’t want to come out in the wash. I even tried oxy-clean but all that ended up doing was ruining the color.
I’m really struggling with acupressure (and some other eastern modalities). At least we aren’t trying to learn acupuncture. Adding needles to “not getting it” does not sound like a good combination.
