Well, I addressed the envelopes today. Mark and I are meeting for the weekend (since he’s working out of town) and I’m going to bring the cards with me for him to write his half. I will do my half tonight. My goal is to have them in the mail by Monday, October 5th.

I got married in June. It’s now the end of August. Actually, I’ve been married two months as of yesterday. I really need to send the thank yous! We don’t even have that many to send, and I already have the cards. I think it’s only like 15 cards to send. This should not be hard. I will do this ASAP.

It took my wife and I way too long to do this, and by the end of it I don’t even know if we actually sent out ALL the cards. We mailed out and hand-delivered a bunch of them, and about four months later we heard that a few people hadn’t recieved theirs. Whether we’d sent them or not, we weren’t sure, so we sent them out again.
Then a couple of months ago I found a half-dozen behind a shelf that had never made it out. We sent them off, but I still think that’s kind of bad form. Right now I still don’t even know if everyone got theirs. But I can’t see any more thank-you cards in the house, and this has been on here so long I think I’m just going to mark it done and be THROUGH with it.
(I said this was “Not Worth It” not because I thought it was an awful experience, but just because it never seemed to end and I think I could have done it better. Luckily, though, I’ll never have to do it again!)

So my wife and I finally sent out a bunch of cards; we had to go and buy more stamps, and she stamped them while I was at rehearsal last night. When I got home, I asked her which invitations we hadn’t sent yet. She said, “The ones we still have to send.” She was tired, so I won’t hold it against her, but I don’t actually know how close we are to finally doing this.

Well, procrastination set in and it’s been two weeks since the last time we wrote our our notes, but we just did another batch of cards this evening. I thought I had the perfect plan and motivation: I made us French Vanilla cocktails to sip on while we wrote our thank-you notes, but my wife only made it through five thank-you notes before being so adversely affected by the alcohol that she needed to stop writing. So, not a huge success, but we did get through another 15 cards, so it’s slowly coming along. And now I know that I need to make the cocktails about halfway through the writing process; I think that will make things twice as productive and just as fun.

My wife and I celebrated our 6 month wedding anniversary on Sunday. Well, not so much “celebrated” as “realized it was”. And we figured that at six months past the fact, we should really buckle down and start writing our thank-yous. We worked for about an hour today, and got through a dozen and a half, which we felt was pretty good progress. A few more weeknights like this and we’ll have it done easily by the end of the month. I thought it was going to be difficult, but we really shouldn’t have procrastinated this much. Better late than never, I suppose.
i still haven’t received anything from the photographer. when we get them, they’ll go out in short order.
