I’m so excited! And I know one or two of my subscribers are local to Tucson, so maybe you can go too.
A Tibetan monk created a sand mandala here in Tucson a year or so ago, and I didn’t go. A similar event is being planned again! Rinpoche Losang Samten will be at the University of Arizona for three weeks creating a Tibetan Buddhist Wheel of Life Sand Mandala, and surely this time I will be able to go. There will be special lectures and ceremonies throughout the three weeks, and I’m especially interested in the discussion about the various similarities and differences between the Navajo and Tibetan traditions of sand painting, and the dissolution ceremony.
Here is a video of Losang Samten creating this mandala at another event: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ur4WgDv6dq0 3 years ago
