buy a tent and go camping

Halfway done. Bought the tent, now I have to make the campsite reservations.
Technically, I’m not sure if this goal will be done considering it is just one night, but I think it’s the same and my other goal is the weekend camping trip, so I’ll just leave that one undone and everything should be fine.

I did this with my mom at the Sturgis motorcycle rally. It was so fun! I’d do it again, even though we got no sleep.

If I wrote about EVERYTHING I liked…

camped last week at Faerieworlds in Oregon

we were using my father’s first tent (which is a few years older than i am, but still in excellent condition), but a downpour toward the end of our vacation left a few of the poles bent so badly that we couldn’t repair them on site.

so we went out, bought a tent of our own and finished out our trip in a brand-new tent…. which is now sitting in our living room closet because we haven’t had the time or money to go camping since the summer. oh well. the next time we go camping (july 2008) we’ll have a new, easy-to-pitch tent that’s a bit more spacious.

Well I spent the past 3 days camping with friends – there were 15 of us in total. It was awesome, I really needed some time away from work. Although next time I’ll probably try go for long longer. Seems like I only had one day to relax. Friday we spent most of the time driving and setting up and Sunday we spent most of the day driving and packing up. I did come up with a whole bunch of things I want to buy to add to my camping equipment. I think I should try make camping something I do at least once a year…

So I’ve bought my tent. And its such a great tent I don’t even mind being in debt a little bit longer. Its a big 2,5 by 2,5 metre dome tent that can comfortably sleep four. Now I just need to find space in my car to pack everything in. Taken friday off work and I’m so looking forward to going camping. Yipee!!!

A bunch of us went camping last year. Just for a short weekend in the middle of winter. Looks like we could be making this an annual event. Last year I had to share a tent with others and I’d like to avoid that this time round. So this weekend I’m going tent shopping.

Think it was gone midnight by the time the kids finally conked out for the night.
Found it all a bit strange, its weird how you really lose the sense of direction in a tent. Next doors dog woke me at about 1am and it sounded like he was next to my tent which he wasn’t. Then big one woke me at about 6ish this morning needing to go for a pee but then we all settled down again until about 8am.
We had bacon butties sat on our beds this morning – great fun. Now can’t wait for him indoors to get home so we can go some where a bit further away than the back garden.
Wee one wants to sleep out there again tonight but its not such a nice day today but as long as it doesn’t rain I think we’ll be out there again ;)

I put the tent up today. Note to sensible people, namely not me!! Putting a 6 man tent up by yourself just one hour before you have to pick up youngest child from school is never a good idea.
But I got it up and tonight we’re camping in the garden. So will that mean I’ve successfully completed this goal? If we’re still in our own back garden does that count as going camping? Yes I think it probably does ;) So hopefully this will be a I’ve done this by tomorrow but the question is will it be a Worth it or a Not worth it? :D

now to get some nice weather so we can actually go camping. Going to leave this goal active until I can actually state we have been camping. Fingers crossed for some sun this year :)
