I’m going to move next year so I think I’ve got as much done as is reasonable. Now to start saving for all those moving expenses.

Went out today and ordered a futon base (already have the futon) so I think I’ll have to leave any more major purchases until November.
The lamp I mentioned before and I got this funky leaf mobile lamp from BB&B which will fit nicely with the flowers and bugs theme of the bedroom. Both look very nice, just need to get some cable clips to pin the wires to the wall.
Very nice :o)
The lamp is going to be a bit more of a trick. Turns out that the celling is solid concrete so forget drilling holes in that! So what I’m going to do is get a long bracket, the kind people use for hanging baskets, attach that the the wall and then hang the lamp from it.
Probably won’t put anything up before the weekend but all the stuff I ordered arrived. :o)
I ordered that lamp and these lovely ‘nets’ and the fittings to put them up. $200 and change. Later in the year I’ll get some thick velvet curtains and I’ll move the nets from the curtain rod onto a ribbon tied to the brackets.
More functional stuff, but I had to fit safty guards on the windows. Did that today, took out the AC and stored it in the closet, washed the windows and put up the guards. The living room is much brighter as a result and it’s lovely to have fresh air.
While I was doing it I really noticed how grotty the blinds are so I am absolutely going to measure the windows now and order some nice curtains and rails. I’ve also found a nice lamp shade online that I think I’m going to buy and put up in the corner.
My apartment is very functional at the moment, there’s more personality on show on my desk here at work! When I lived with my husband I had to decorate in a sort of bland, unisex way, but now it’s me and my little daughter so why the heck not express myself and get a bit wild and weird? :o)
